Punjabi Market
SATB a cappella
Words and music by Amy, first made popular by her Celtic band Mad Pudding. Amy arranged her song for choir at the request of musica intima, one of Canada's finest chamber vocal ensembles, for a tour of Canadian music they did in 2006. It is a Celtic-style song, accompanied by vocal sounds inspired by Indian music, and the story takes place in Vancouver, BC (Canada). It is about a young woman (like Amy was when she wrote the song) who goes into a sari store in Vancouver's Punjabi Market (as Amy often did when she lived in that area), where the salesman behind the counter turns out to be the man of her dreams. It is an upbeat and whimsical tribute to young love in Vancouver. Published by Cypress Choral Music.
